Nova cap sensitive explosive is a small diameter, economic, versatile and water resistant emulsion explosive which has been designed for use in blasting operations under difficult conditions. It is
a chemically stable, sturdy product which provides superior performance and a safe working environment for mining, quarrying and
construction works. It has been especially formulated for breaking
the rock with a high shock energy and its water based formula does
not contain dangerous chemicals such as nitroglycerin or TNT.
Technical Specifications
Advantages
- Since it does not contain substances like nitroglycerin or nitro glycol it does not cause nuisances like headache to the personnel.
- It is especially suitable for use with ANFO or other types of booster sensitive explosives and getting a better fragmentation in hard and massive rock formations.
- It has a high shock energy for breaking the rock and a high heave energy to displace the broken material.
- It is ideal for using in holes containing water. Thanks to its high resistance to water, it does not loose any performance even if it stays under water for days.
- It is relatively safer than the NG based explosives for accidental initiations by shock, friction or mechanical impacts.
- When stored properly, it has a long shelf life without any performance loss.
Packing and Product Dimensions
Cap sensitive explosives are produced in PE cartridges which are clipped in both ends, standart dimensions of the cartridges given below. These cartriges are packed in 20 kg reinforced cardboard boxes.
Initiation
Nova cap sensitive explosives could be initiated any type of detonators with #8 strength or detonating cords with minimum 10 gr/m charge. If it will be initiated with detonator, it is highly recommended to insert the detonator into the bottom cartridge with its tip towards the charging direction or if it will be initiated by detonating cord to insert the tip of the cord into the cartridge and to keep the cord firmly in contact with the cartridge.
